I still believe John Hurt is the Valeyard. The one who broke the promise. The promise to travel and protect. The embodied form of the darkest parts of the Doctor.

You don’t understand how much I want the Valeyard to return. I really hope that the Dream Lord was a precursor. He is the biggest reason that I love Amy’s Choice.

They namedropped Valeyard in the beginning of the episode, plus Clara specifically said that Matt was the 11th Doctor/incarnation, so if Moffat can remember his own storyline/continuities (which he’s screwed up anyways) he shouldn’t be putting John Hurt as the “legit 9th”.
